What Is The Penetration Test?

In todays World with technological developments accessing information has become crucial. Even ıf the companies around the world aim to control their access, attackers always try to find a way in. At this point, detecting the attacks that a company would encounter early by approaching of an attackers perspective and simulation tests that provide unauthorized access to the targeted systems / data and the operations performed in this direction are called penetration test or pentest. Pentest (Penetration Test), overall performs in a way; detection of targeted system and applications, analyze, evaluation of whether they have vulnerability and provide unauthorized access to the system and data by exploiting. Crucial point here is not to confuse vulnerabity test analyze and penetration test each other. In vulnerability test potential weaknesses are detected. But in penetration test, the answer to the question of can these weaknesses be use by atttackers to infiltrate, is sought.

The need of pentest companies has increased bacause the corporations realized this risk recently and naturally a lot of company serves IT security has been established in the sector. Companies take advantage of this need in the sector and mostly because its customer doesn’t have enough information about this topic instead of performing operative penetration test, only port scanning or by using an automated tool that reports vulnerability analysis as cyber security testing, have also increased. These companies employ personnels who has insufficient certificate and authorization, instead of a penetration test specialist. The company that will make the penetration test should question the competence of the penetration test specialists working in the company that will perform the test, examine the previous penetration test samples and make the decisions accordingly.
